Thank you for choosing Emerald Dance Academy for your dancing needs!
We are happy to welcome you. Below are the answers to some frequently
asked questions, but if you still have further questions, please contact
us directly or by using the form below.
My daughter/son is 3 years old, can they dance?
Yes! Unlike many dance schools, we take dancers as young as 3 years old.
We have a special 30 minute class just for toddlers called our Tiny
Toes class in which we don't focus on complex choreography, but instead
we teach your little one rhythm and timing, balance, coordination,
posture, and the basic feet positions among other things.
I'm interested in dancing, but I'm an adult. Can I still take classes?
Absolutely! You are never too old to dance, and we have adult specific
classes just for you. Do you have two left feet? No problem. Have you
just not put your dancing shoes on in a while? That's fine too! Our
adult classes are a great atmosphere for adults of mixed levels to join
forces for fun and improvement for you to learn and grow.
What is a Feis? (Pronounced Feh-sh)
A Feis is an event that includes Irish Dance Competitions and any or all of the following:
- Music or Singing competition
- Domestic Arts Competition
- Vendors with Irish or Irish Dance goods
- And more!
We encourage our students to compete but it is not required. These events are fun and a great way to meet new people, to perform their steps in front of others to gain confidence, and to gain feedback from a qualified judge on how to improve further.
What should I wear to class or a Feis?
Ask your teacher about appropriate class and Feis attire.
What is a Ceili? (Pronounced Kay-lee)
Ceili is Irish Gaelic for party. An event called a Ceili is just that, a
party with lots of dancing. A Ceili dance is a traditional group dance,
either social or competitive, similar to square or line dancing.
Do you have a recital?
Yes! Our annual recital is where all of our students are invited to perform for family and friends.
Where can I get dance shoes and supplies?
